Job Summary

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in providing support and assistance to individuals with disabilities, including those with autism, in both home and community settings. This position focuses on enhancing the quality of life for clients by promoting independence and facilitating their daily activities. The DSP will work closely with clients to ensure their needs are met while respecting their rights and preferences.

Duties

  • Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the well-being of individuals.
  • Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's needs, ensuring adherence to resident rights.
  • Monitor and document client progress, behaviors, and any changes in health status through patient observation.
  • Facilitate community integration by encouraging participation in social activities and outings.
  • Administer first aid as needed and assist with medication management under supervision.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including nurses, to coordinate care for clients requiring hospice or long-term care services.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients within group home settings or during home community care visits.

Experience

  • Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a group home setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with hospice care practices is a plus.
  • Knowledge of resident rights and advocacy for individuals receiving support services is essential.
  • Experience in providing personal care and assistance with ADLs is highly valued.
  • Certification in first aid or CPR is beneficial.
  • A compassionate demeanor and strong communication skills are critical for success in this role.

SHIFT: Every Weekend

Saturday: 7 PM -7 AM

Sunday: 7 PM -7 AM

This position requires a dedicated individual who is passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of others while fostering an inclusive environment that promotes dignity and respect for all clients.
