Position Summary:

The Pro Center Solutionist drives sales and enhances the customer experience by engaging customers, maintaining merchandising standards, and providing product expertise. The role handles customer transactions, stocks and organizes products, and ensures the Pro Center is clean, well-stocked, and visually appealing. The Solutionist hosts product knowledge sessions, vendor spotlights, and customer appreciation events, engages local contractors, installers, and remodelers to grow business, and tracks customer interactions and product trends to identify opportunities for sales growth.

Essential Functions:

Customer Support and Sales Growth

  • Handle all customer transactions including order entry, product questions, selections, and payments.
  • Provide product guidance and educate customers to ensure proper product selection and use
  • Gather customer feedback and identify opportunities to improve the retail experience.
  • Engage with customers to identify needs and drive incremental sales inside the Pro Center.
  • Reach out to local contractors, installers, and remodelers to build relationships and generate new business.
  • Host product knowledge sessions, vendor spotlights, and customer appreciation events to increase engagement and drive sales.

Retail Floor and Merchandising

  • Keep the Pro Center clean, stocked, and organized to support a strong customer experience.
  • Update shelves, labels, and signage to ensure accurate information and an appealing presentation.
  • Follow planograms and assist with product placement to optimize merchandising.
  • Maintain storage locations and par levels for high-moving products.
  • Coordinate replenishment with warehouse staff and stock shelves once product is gathered.
  • Own the overall condition and appearance of the Pro Center area.

Product Knowledge

  • Participate in ongoing product and sales training to maintain strong product knowledge.
  • Support vendor sessions and product spotlights by assisting customers and setting up displays.

Performance and Reporting Support

  • Track customer interactions and product trends to identify opportunities for sales growth.

Cross Functional Support

  • Work closely with customer service and warehouse teams to ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment.
  • Assist with customer service tasks outside the Pro Center during non-peak times or when staffing allows.
  • Support other distribution center tasks when volume and staffing allow.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to learn and maintain product and installation knowledge.
  • Strong computer skills including basic KPI tracking and reporting.
  • Ability to multitask and manage priorities in a dynamic retail environment.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform basic math to support order accuracy and product guidance.
  • Problem solving skills and the ability to identify customer-focused solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • State driver's license with a satisfactory DMV record.
  • Customer facing or retail experience required.
  • Retail or product knowledge experience preferred.

Travel

Minimal, typically limited to local branch support or event participation.

Schedule

Normal business hours with occasional after-hours events.

Physical requirements

Regularly lift and move 10 to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 70 pounds. Occasional standing, walking, and bending throughout the day.
