Grassroots and Legislative Affairs Manager – 2026

Grassroots and Legislative Affairs Manager (GLAM) is responsible for operations of TMA's member legislative engagement activities, fundraising to the TMA political action committee (TMAPAC) and management of various coalition group within the legislative relations area of TMA.

The Manager shall perform TMAPAC Committee staff work and prepare fundraising reports. It is critical for the position to get to know and interact with TMA members in order to get them active in legislative affairs and to contribute to TMAPAC. It is also vital that the GLAM have a strong background in written communications and presentation skills. Marketing and fundraising experience required. Knowledge and interaction with the Tennessee General Assembly preferred.

Responsibilities

Coordinate the activities and operations of the TMA Political Action Committee

Create and execute annual fundraising and marketing plan for TMAPAC

  • Work directly with Marketing Dept to produce marketing and communications material to promote TMAPAC activities, solicit donations
  • Create and implement TMAPAC events to assist in fundraising
  • Coordinate fundraising training for PAC board
  • Manage corporate donor efforts with assistance from TMAPAC Committee Members
  • Organize Corporate Donor Dinner Semi-annually

TMAPAC operations management

  • Track donors and donations
  • Produce monthly fundraising reports and state filings
  • TMAPAC Committee Management - communications, minutes, scheduling

Manage various coalitions to enhance TMA legislative affairs

Continued development and management of projects and programs that require coordination between TMA, TMAPAC and other allied professional organizations

  • Coalition for Coordinated Care - CCC
  • Healthcare lobbyists' group

Engage TMA members in legislative action

Coordinate advocacy activities on behalf of the organization

  • Coordinate Doctor of the Day program and appointments
  • Assist in the planning and facilitation of annual lobby day for physicians
  • Event promotions
  • Working with Marketing department to provide necessary information to create collateral materials
  • Collaborate with lobbyists to communicate key issues with members in electronic and printed communications
  • Help identify and assist physicians to give legislative testimony

Advocacy promotions and communication duties

  • Attend local medical society meetings and events to promote PAC and present TMA legislative updates
  • Help draft and disseminate legislative information and news
  • Collaborate with other staff on Social Media opportunities
  • Coordinate and attend regional legislative dinners

Maintain our Grassroots network activities

  • Recruit statewide volunteer physician and non-physician advocates to serve as local legislative contact physicians for TMA issues
  • Maintain a key contact list
  • Help train volunteer advocates in effective advocacy skills and political communications
  • Coordinate in district visits between key medical practices and key lawmakers.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $50,000.00 per year
