Position Overview

YOU - A chef ready to change up your career and mix your Culinary skills / Food Service acumen and Kitchen Management experience with community service.

WE – A non-profit organization committed to empowering communities through culinary workforce training, food entrepreneurship, and food assistance, seeking a chef ready to mix their skills and change their path as Director of Kitchen Operations. This Kitchen Leadership role will oversee our food assistance production, rental kitchen operations, and the development of catering and food service contracts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Rental Kitchen Management: Oversee day-to-day operations of the commercial kitchen rental program (shared kitchen), ensuring compliance with health codes, equipment maintenance, and user enrollment and onboarding.
  • Client & Vendor Engagement: Build and nurture relationships with shared kitchen clients, vendors, and catering clients.
  • Food Assistance Operations: Oversee two important food assistance programs: After-school meals program - production and distribution; Family Meal - cultivate and oversee logistics, guest service and chef coordination.
  • Facility Health & Safety Compliance: Maintain rigorous health and food safety standards for all kitchens and entire facility. Manage inspections and oversee all equipment repairs and servicing.
  • Contract Development: Identify and negotiate potential food service contracts with schools, shelters, and other institutions. Track performance metrics and support financial sustainability.
  • Revenue: Drive earned income growth by expanding catering, kitchen rental, and food service contract opportunities through client engagement, strategic promotion, and operational efficiency.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise kitchen staff. Drive strategic planning and continuous improvement aligned with Kitchen of Purpose's mission.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in food service management with a proven track record of managing a successful food business.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and commercial kitchen operations.
  • Experience managing contracts and partner relationships.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Passion for food equity, workforce development, and community impact.

Compensation & Benefits

$85,000 - $95,000 based on experience. Full benefits package including health insurance, matching retirement plan, PTO, holidays, and professional development support.
