Status: Full-time

Position Description

The Senior Tax Manager is responsible for overseeing and executing all tax department functions for the firm. This role is highly client-facing and involves managing tax return preparation, review, planning, projections, and advisory services for both business and individual clients.

The Senior Tax Manager leads tax strategy for the firm, ensures a high level of technical accuracy, and supports the continued development of internal team members. This role helps shape and improve overall tax processes and represents the firm with professionalism and proactive communication.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Tax Compliance & Review

  • Prepare and review tax returns including 1040, 1120, 1120S, 1065, and 990
  • Ensure compliance with current tax laws and filing deadlines
  • Identify tax savings opportunities and ensure optimal tax positions for clients

Tax Planning & Advisory

  • Conduct tax strategy and planning calls with business and individual clients
  • Prepare tax projections, forecasts, and estimated tax calculations
  • Provide forward-thinking advice to minimize liabilities and support client decisions

Client-Facing Responsibilities

  • Lead client communication regarding tax matters, documents, expectations, and timelines
  • Review completed returns with clients to ensure understanding and alignment
  • Maintain strong relationships built on trust, responsiveness, and accuracy

Leadership & Development

  • Train and mentor team members on complex tax matters
  • Review team-prepared work and provide actionable, constructive feedback
  • Contribute to building scalable, efficient processes for the tax department

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee tax deadlines, project statuses, risks, and priorities
  • Improve department workflows and maintain a high standard of quality control
  • Support cross-department collaboration with bookkeeping and accounting teams

This role is more than tax preparation—it is a leadership position responsible for elevating the quality, consistency, and advisory strength of the firm's entire tax function.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Active CPA required
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in tax preparation and review
  • Strong knowledge of business and individual taxation
  • Experience with tax planning, projections, and advisory work
  • Ability to train, mentor, and review work prepared by staff
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid environment with a collaborative team

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $125, $150,000.00 per year
