About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Administrator / Director of Nursing (DON) to lead the startup and operational growth of a new in-home hospice agency in Oklahoma City, OK. This position is ideal for a results-driven leader with a proven track record of successfully launching new hospice agencies and scaling them to a census of 25+ patients.
The ideal candidate will be both a strategic thinker and a hands-on operator who can ensure compliance, build a high-performing care team, and foster relationships that drive rapid, sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Agency Startup & Licensing
- Lead all aspects of state and federal licensing, accreditation, and initial operations setup for a new hospice agency.
- Develop and implement all required clinical and administrative policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Ensure compliance with CMS, state, and local regulations for hospice care delivery.
- Operational Leadership
- Oversee daily operations, including clinical care coordination, quality assurance, and staffing.
- Manage budgets, financial reporting, and operational efficiency metrics.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with referral sources, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and community partners.
- Clinical Oversight
- Direct and support the nursing team in delivering exceptional hospice care that meets regulatory and patient-centered standards.
- Ensure comprehensive, compassionate care planning and documentation.
- Provide mentorship, performance evaluation, and ongoing professional development for clinical staff.
- Growth & Business Development
- Drive census growth through effective marketing strategies, referral management, and community engagement.
- Analyze market trends to identify new business opportunities.
- Lead the agency to reach and sustain a 25+ patient census while maintaining high standards of care and compliance.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Oklahoma.
- Minimum 3–5 years of hospice leadership experience (Administrator or DON level).
- Demonstrated success in starting and growing a new hospice agency to a census of 25+.
- Deep understanding of hospice regulations, compliance, and quality assurance standards.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Preferred:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
- CHPN, CHPCA, or similar certification.
- Established relationships within the Oklahoma City healthcare network.
