Abiding Hospice is a new and compassionate hospice startup dedicated to providing exceptional end-of-life care to patients and families. We are committed to dignity, comfort, and clinical excellence. As we launch and grow, we are seeking a strong, experienced Director of Nursing to help build our clinical program and lead our care team.
Position Summary
The Director of Nursing (DON) is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all clinical operations within Abiding Hospice. This position ensures the highest quality of patient care, regulatory compliance, and supports the growth and development of our nursing and interdisciplinary teams. The DON will play a vital part in shaping the culture, standards, and success of our new hospice agency.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction for all clinical staff, including RNs, LVNs, CNAs, social workers, chaplains, and volunteers.
- Ensure compliance with state, federal, and Medicare hospice regulations.
- Develop, implement, and monitor clinical policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Oversee patient care planning, assessments, and coordination of services.
- Participate in IDG (Interdisciplinary Group) meetings and ensure care plans are updated and followed.
- Ensure accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Lead hiring, training, and performance management for clinical team members.
- Collaborate with the Administrator to support agency growth, referrals, and operational goals.
- Serve as on-call clinical support as needed.
- Promote a culture of compassion, teamwork, and patient-centered care.
Qualifications
- Active RN license in the state of [Insert State].
- Minimum 2–4 years of hospice or home health leadership experience (DON or supervisor preferred).
- Strong understanding of Medicare hospice regulations and standards of practice.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a startup environment and help build systems and processes.
- Passion for hospice philosophy and providing compassionate end-of-life care.

Pay: $90, $110,463.02 per year
