The position reports to the Associate Dean of the Honors College. The part-time Thesis Assistant is based in NYC, but the position serves both campuses. The Honors College is the academic and administrative home for over 1,000 of the top students at Pace University. Every Honors student is required to complete a thesis to graduate from the Honors College. The part-time Senior Thesis Advisor oversees the process from brainstorming ideas all the way until final presentations, and students also work hand-in-hand with Faculty Advisors to ensure the research is sound and develops into their best work.

Position Duties

  • Organize and track thesis data (i.e. advisors, topics, presentation dates, progress, and more) in Excel and CRM Advise.
  • Help plan thesis-related events, presentations, workshops, and more, especially in regards to designing promotional materials in Canva or related platforms, as well as marketing to various Honors student populations when needed.
  • Administer exit surveys to the graduating seniors.
  • Coordinate the social media marketing of thesis-related events with the students running the accounts.
  • Regularly check in with Senior Thesis Advisor about developments, issues, and more as the semester progresses.
  • Quality-checking Dynamic Forms and Adobe Sign templates relating to the thesis process or offering a secondary opinion on a student's draft if requested.
  • Performs other such duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Work Hours

Exact hours to be determined with supervisor; generally up to 20 hours per week.

Remote work is permitted. Must have ability to join synchronous Zoom check-ins when necessary.

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience in conducting academic research (human subject research preferably).
  • Experience working with students.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office in particular Excel.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
