Position Summary
This role oversees the communications, marketing, and website operations of the department's educational offerings.
Job Responsibilities
- In collaboration with technical teams, manages departmental website and affiliated program pages. Responsible for updating, auditing and maintaining content.
- Monitors website and social media engagement. Collaborates with External Affairs partners to understand and implement communication policy and guidelines.
- Oversees a wide range of communications initiatives including but not limited to marketing projects, e-newsletters, and special event materials. Updates webpages using Drupal and partner with WCM ITS for larger-scale changes and updates.
- In collaboration with department leadership, develops resources aimed at both driving overall enrollment goals and developing recruitment initiatives for a greater visibility of program(s).
- Complete review of PhD candidate thesis submissions in ProQuest: Ensure that ProQuest/institutional formatting requirements have been followed, while working with candidates to ensure that their thesis submission meets all guidelines.
- Track date of thesis defense, stipend termination date and degree conferral date to avoid unintentional premature loss of stipend, housing and other benefits due to date of approval in ProQuest.
- Creates mass communication content for prospective students and industry partners. Monitors success of open rates with communication efforts.
- Serves as primary contact for maintaining and updating website(s), as well as social media strategies and postings. Responsible for internal and external communication regarding promotional materials, admissions, etc.
- Monitors social media accounts for issue management; flags/offers recommendations to address negative feedback; Serves as primary monitor to identify brand conflicts or other violations.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree
Experience
- Bachelor's degree and at least 4 years of working experience in an academic setting, preferably in communications, marketing and website management
- Proficiency in social media and experience using various audio and visual software.
- Experience with Canva and social media platforms preferred. Experience with Drupal and Slate Deliver preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytic, communication, time management skills, excellent writing skills and the ability to manage several concurrent tasks.
- Must have sufficient familiarity and experience with Microsoft Office, including: PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently and diplomatically in a high-pressure, complex environment.
- Ability to work independently, and to arrange information sessions, set appointments and promote the education programs in a positive manner.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills and excellent grasp of English language/grammar.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to pay close attention to detail.
