Front Desk Medical Receptionist

Elite Women's Health is searching for a full-time, goal-oriented, revenue-driven, highly accurate and motivated receptionist. The candidate must work well with others and have a professional and friendly disposition.
Duties:
- Greet patients in a friendly and professional manner
- Answer multi-line phone system
- Complete insurance verification
- Schedule patient appointments
- Collect patient copay/balances
- Update patient demographic information and insurance information at every appointment
- Scan insurance cards
- Obtain referrals and pre-authorizations as required for procedures.
- Check eligibility and benefits verification for treatments, hospitalizations, and procedures.
- Review patient bills for accuracy and completeness and obtain any missing information.
- Check each insurance payment for accuracy and compliance
- Call insurance companies regarding any discrepancy in payments if necessary
- Identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances.
- Review accounts for insurance of patient follow-up.
- Set up patient payment plans and work collection accounts.
Qualifications and Skills
- Knowledge of insurance guidelines including HMO/PPO, Medicare and other payer requirements and systems.
- Competent use of computer systems; Experience with Athena EHR is a plus
- Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 Coding.
- Effective communication abilities for phone contacts with insurance payers to resolve issues.
- Customer service skills for interacting with patients regarding medical claims and payments, including communicating with patients and family members of diverse ages and backgrounds.
- Ability to work well in a team environment. Being able to triage priorities, delegate tasks if needed, and handle conflict in a reasonable fashion.
- Must be able to follow directions quickly and efficiently with varying workloads and interruptions.
- Problem-solving skills to research and resolve discrepancies, denials, appeals, collections. A calm manner and patience working with either patients or insurers during this process.
- Knowledge of medical terminology likely to be encountered in medical claims.
- Maintaining patient confidentiality as per the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPPA).
- Ability to multitask.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Education and Experience Required
- High school diploma
- 2-5 years of medical receptionist experience preferred
