We are seeking a dependable and motivated Full Time Certified Medical Assistant to join our clinical team in Tomball, TX. This position is responsible for supporting providers with direct patient care, including taking vitals, preparing patients for exams, administering injections, performing basic lab tests, and maintaining accurate medical records. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills, a positive attitude, and a passion for delivering high-quality patient care in a team-oriented environment.

Essential Job Functions and Duties

  • Demonstrates the ability to correctly and efficiently use the EMR system as well as other computer systems.
  • Correctly enters lab orders.
  • Answers phone calls, respond to patient questions and take messages.
  • Ensures all medical documents received are uploaded in the medical record and assigned for provider review.
  • Accurately obtain and record vital signs, chief complaints, medication review, medical and social history.
  • Communicate with patients regarding lab/test results, referrals, follow up visits as delegated by the provider and document appropriately.
  • Communicate with pharmacy and outside providers for continuation of patient care.
  • Understands how the medical assistant's position and duties relate to the overall function of the clinic and contributes to patient care.
  • Follows all policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates competence in all procedures in accordance with clinic policies.
  • Follows OSHA regulations.
  • Ensure exam rooms stay stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instrument sterilization.
  • Assist the provider as needed.
  • Disinfect exam rooms after each patient.
  • Greets patients in a courteous manner.
  • Administer injections and vaccines.
  • Disposes of used needles in suitable containers and does not recap needles.
  • Perform office procedures including but not limited to: EKG, Ear irrigation, spirometry and wound care.
  • Attends required staff meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Specifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Proficient in speaking, reading and writing the English and Spanish language
  • Has computer knowledge and skills to learn the different systems involved with the performance of their duties.
  • Performs well in emergency situations.
  • Effectively communicate with co-workers, patients, and physicians with respect, courtesy and professionalism.
  • Knowledge of patient care and the ability to assist with examinations and procedures utilizing medical equipment and instruments
  • Excellent customer relations skills
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA regulations

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited MA program
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)

PREFERRED

  • One year prior medical office experience
  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant through AAMA, AMT or other approved credentialing agency
