Luma Pictures is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Linux based Senior Systems Administrator to support our technical infrastructure in Los Angeles. This role is crucial to maintaining the performance, reliability, and scalability of our VFX production environment. You will be responsible for overseeing core systems, networks, storage, and supporting artists and production staff with day-to-day IT needs.

You'll collaborate with the global IT team, pipeline developers, and production departments to support the technical backbone of our creative workflows. This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys solving complex challenges and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Prerequisite:

7+ years' experience in Systems Administration

Proven expertise managing Enterprise Linux environments and backend systems

Experience with virtualisation technologies and platforms (KVM, Proxmox, etc.)

In-depth knowledge of networking principles, firewalls, and network security

Experience with enterprise storage solutions (e.g., Isilon, Qumulo etc )

Skills:

Advanced knowledge of Linux systems administration and shell scripting

Strong understanding of networking technologies and remote connectivity solutions: (IPSec VPN tunnels, PCoIP etc )

Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot hardware/software issues in a live production environment

Proficiency in managing compute farms, clustered computing

Experience in Monitoring and optimising system performance, security

Research and implement infrastructure improvements and emerging technologies

Excellent communication and documentation skills

Strong technical problem-solving skills

Nice To Have:

Experience in a VFX, animation, or game development studio

Familiarity with VFX production software environments (Maya, Houdini, Nuke)

Experience with cloud infrastructure and hybrid deployment solutions. (GCP/AWS)

Familiarity with automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible, Terraform, CI/CD

Excellent scripting skills in Python and Bash

Knowledge of containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100, $140,000.00 per year
