LRE (Leeward Renewable Energy) is a high-growth renewable energy company forging a sustainable future through integrity, innovation, and positive impact. We own and operate 30 large wind, solar, and energy storage projects across the United States, totaling over 3 gigawatts (GW) of generating capacity.

LRE has an ambitious goal of 10GW of operating assets by 2028 and are developing and contracting an increasing pipeline of new projects every year. We take a full-lifecycle approach to our projects, built on a long-term ownership model and a company culture dedicated to our community partners and protecting the environment.

Job Summary:

  • Provide engineering support to improve the safety and reliability of HV substations.
  • Analyze protective relay and equipment data, troubleshoot and inspect equipment to identify, review and diagnose problems that affect the performance and reliability of the electrical system.
  • Lead operation substation improvement projects and liaise with contractors and operation plant managers.
  • Regularly analyze, summarize, and communicate findings to the Leeward management team.

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with HV Substation (115 kV though 525 kV) is a plus.
  • Fundamental knowledge of Power System and Electrical Protection.
  • Ability to site visit High Voltage Substations.
  • Passed FE Exam or willing to take it within a year.
  • Excellent communication skills, including ability to clearly communicate ideas to non-engineers.
  • Ability to remain focused and reliable in completing tasks and meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and manage technical projects, including interaction with outside vendors.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage priorities in a complex and dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a motor vehicle and possession of a valid driver's license.
  • 4-Year Bachelors Electrical Engineering Degree.
  • Master Engineering degree is a plus.

Preferred Work Experience:

  • 0 – 3 years of highly relevant technical experience.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and climbing at project locations in order to inspect and repair equipment or collect information.
  • Willingness and ability to travel at least 15%
