Position Overview:

The Data Center Electrical Design Engineer will develop and manage the design of electrical infrastructure and related systems for complex data centers. The incumbent will coordinate and support the commissioning process. Specific responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the ability to work with limited supervision in corporate, remote, and home offices, as well as project site locations.

The Engineer must be a flexible and adaptable team-player who possess and demonstrates effective communication and broad client service skills. As experience is further developed in the overall design and construction of data centers, the Engineer's skills will be further utilized as a Subject Matter Expert across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage electrical design projects for hyper-scale data centers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.
  • Develop and review electrical design plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to address project requirements and resolve issues.
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Work with internal design build team to develop specifications and standards for customers.
  • Review premanufactured assemblies at our equipment manufacturing facilities.
  • Lead, review, drive completion of short circuit coordination studies and arc flash label development for equipment from substation to interior building equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineering (PE) license in Texas, with the ability to obtain licenses in other states as needed.
  • 5-10 years of experience in electrical design for data centers, preferably for hyper-scale customers.
  • Proven experience leading electrical teams and managing projects from conception to completion.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel to construction sites across the United States.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for data center design.
  • Experience with electrical design software and tools, ETAP a plus.
  • Knowledge of sustainable and energy-efficient design practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with team members, supervisor, and customers.
