Duties

  • Greet patients, visitors, and staff warmly, providing excellent customer service and guiding them through check-in procedures
  • Verify patient identities and appointments, ensuring accurate intake and registration processes
  • Collect and document basic health information, and insurance details using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
  • Assist with patient inquiries, scheduling appointments, and managing wait times efficiently
  • Support medical staff by preparing patient charts, updating records, and facilitating communication between departments
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive patient information in compliance with healthcare regulations
  • Manage incoming calls promptly, directing inquiries to appropriate departments or personnel
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and processing paperwork related to patient care
  • Support clinical staff with basic procedures like taking vital signs or preparing patients for examinations when needed
  • Ensure the front desk area remains organized, clean, and welcoming at all times

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support principles
  • Experience working in hospital or outpatient clinic environments
  • Familiarity with EHR systems and ICD coding for accurate documentation and billing processes
  • Ability to perform intake assessments
  • Knowledge of inpatient and outpatient workflows across various specialties such as dermatology, internal medicine, geriatrics, medical-surgical units, or hospital medicine
  • Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient service excellence
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail under pressure
  • Basic understanding of medication administration procedures when supporting clinical staff
