Nuclear AOV and MOV Technicians perform disassembly, cleaning, inspection, measuring, reassembly, and testing of valves at client locations. Ensure timely communication with management, co-workers, and customers to facilitate successful job completion. Complete all calibration and documentation associated with testing and repairs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Disassemble, repair, and reassemble mechanical control devices or valves using power and hand tools.
  • Perform functional post-maintenance testing, diagnostic testing, and calibrations of valves.
  • Record maintenance information, including test results, material usage, and repairs made.
  • Calibrate instrumentation for pressure, temperature, flow, and level.
  • Test valves and regulators for leaks and accurate settings using precision testing equipment.
  • Install, inspect, and test electric meters, relays, and power sources.
  • Report hazardous field situations and notify repair crews for major repairs.

Required Education And Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience.
  • Prior nuclear power plant experience, highly desired.
  • Must be able to obtain nuclear unescorted access, including fitness for duty requirements.
  • Successful completion of all training including, Radiation Worker Training, Plant Access Training, Fitness for Duty, etc.
  • Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to assemble and disassemble objects and operate small equipment and power tools.
  • Availability for shift work, if needed.
  • Ability to support other crafts as requested.
  • Ability to work at varying heights, in cramped quarters, extreme heat and/or cold, and loud environments (above 89 decibels).
  • Knowledge of relevant processes and procedures.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain knowledge of technical manuals and procedures.
  • Ability to pass specific training and qualifications.
  • Willingness to work overtime, including shift work, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to pass all background and screening requirements, including drug and/or alcohol screening.
