Purpose:
This is professional services work in planning and overseeing a statewide education program in a specific specialty/subject area. Responsibilities include organizing, promoting, interpreting, developing policy, and administering assigned program through consultation with superintendents and cooperating agencies, and group or individual teacher conferences. This position exists to support student and staff level data collections and reporting systems in order to meet state and federal reporting requirements and to ensure the quality of the data collected. This position will also support related MDOE program areas and initiatives. Responsibilities involve professional educational work of a specialized nature, which includes developing training materials for software applications and associated work processes; developing training materials for program improvement; delivering and/or assisting with the delivery of training; surveying participants for training program enhancements; enhancing training materials based on participant feedback; and identifying and implementing multiple methods of advertising. This position provides feedback on the application enhancement process by communicating with school and SAU staff to help them resolve issues regarding application use. The position works independently, as well as serves as a consultant providing expertise and leadership to other data team members as they train users on complex data systems. The position functions as a consultant to data team staff to determine complex system documentation and training strategies. This position could require a significant amount of travel.
Representative Tasks
Responsibilities include designing and delivering training through workshops, online sessions, and user guides; assessing training needs and developing plans to support schools and staff; collaborating with internal and external partners to align training with department programs; and maintaining up-to-date training resources, communications, and websites. The role also evaluates training effectiveness, prepares reports, ensures compliance with fiscal policies, provides help desk support, and contributes to overall team initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of education administration, teaching methods, and materials
- Knowledge of best practices for teaching adult learners
- Knowledge of MDOE staff and student data collections.
- Knowledge of state and federal laws, rules, and regulations applicable to and enforced by the Department
- Ability to interpret and explain statutory provisions to local school authorities and the public.
- Ability to plan and organize educational programs.
- Ability to formulate and administer rules and regulations.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to write clearly and effectively.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to prepare clear and comprehensive reports.
Ability to travel to school units to provide on-site training
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelors Degree in Education or required specialty/subject area and two (2) years professional level experience in required specialty/subject area. A Masters Degree in Education or required specialty/subject area may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.
LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS : (These must be met by all employees prior to attaining permanent status in this class).
Individual positions may require a professional teaching certificate in assigned specialty/subject area as issued by the State Department of Education & Cultural Services
Applicants with demonstrated experience in education data systems, ongoing data quality enhancement, a strong grasp of education data intricacies, and the ability to develop effective training materials will be prioritized.
