Overview

We are seeking a a Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee payroll. This role involves maintaining payroll records, calculating wages, managing deductions, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Process payroll accurately and timely for all employees, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Manage payroll data entry, including new hires, terminations, and changes in employee status.
  • Perform account reconciliation to ensure accuracy in payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies as needed.
  • Collaborate with HR to administer benefits programs and ensure proper deductions are made from employee paychecks.
  • Maintain knowledge of payroll software systems such as ADP and other relevant financial software.
  • Prepare journal entries related to payroll transactions and maintain general ledger accounting records.
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as required.
  • Conduct analysis of payroll data to identify trends or discrepancies and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Support audits by providing necessary documentation related to payroll processes and records.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field, required
  • Proven experience in payroll processing (2+ years), required
  • Familiarity with payroll software (ADP), required
  • Strong understanding of payroll and tax regulations
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Strong understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, general ledger reconciliation, and account reconciliation.
  • Excellent data entry skills with a focus on accuracy; 10 key typing proficiency is essential.
  • Knowledge of HRIS systems for effective integration of payroll with human resources functions.
  • Ability to analyze complex data sets and provide actionable insights based on findings.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members across departments including human resources and finance.
