Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Bookkeeper with payroll and accounts payable (A/P) expertise to join our growing team on a part time basis. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable reviewing the work of others. This position involves managing multiple clients, overseeing bookkeeping accuracy, processing payroll, and maintaining strong financial records.
This role averages 20–40 hours per month. It's ideal for someone who values flexibility, enjoys reviewing and perfecting financial data, and thrives in a remote environment.

Responsibilities
- Maintain and reconcile general ledgers, bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheets.
- Review and verify the work of offshore or junior bookkeepers for accuracy and completeness.
- Process and review weekly, biweekly, and monthly payrolls using systems such as Gusto, ADP, or QuickBooks Payroll.
- Prepare and file payroll tax forms and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Manage the full A/P cycle — coding, entering, and paying bills via platforms like Melio, Relay, or
- Handle A/R duties as needed — invoicing, posting payments, and reconciling customer accounts.
- Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Communicate with clients regarding financial questions, discrepancies, and reporting.
- Identify process improvements and help streamline bookkeeping and payroll workflows.
Experience
- 5+ years of bookkeeping experience, including payroll and A/P.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online (QBO Certification preferred).
- Experience with payroll platforms such as Gusto, ADP, or QuickBooks Payroll.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and payroll compliance.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple client files efficiently.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and review others' work with accuracy and integrity.
- Experience training other bookkeepers preferred.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with service-based businesses
- Familiarity with Melio, Relay, and Client Hub.
- Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills.
- Previous experience supervising or training bookkeepers.
