Job Summary:

The Project Control Specialist is responsible for supporting project teams with planning, scheduling, budgeting, and cost control activities to ensure the successful execution of complex construction projects. This role ensures that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with regulatory and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop, maintain, and update project schedules using tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.
  • Create Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and integrate detailed plans across multiple project disciplines.
  • Coordinate schedule input from engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams.

2. Cost Control & Budget Management

  • Develop and monitor project budgets, forecasts, and cost estimates.
  • Track actual costs against budgeted amounts and provide variance analysis.
  • Assist in managing change control processes and assessing the impact of changes on cost and schedule.

3. Progress Measurement & Reporting

  • Monitor project progress and performance through earned value management (EVM) and performance metrics.
  • Prepare and present regular project status reports to stakeholders, including performance dashboards.
  • Identify risks and issues that may affect project delivery and recommend mitigation strategies.

4. Document & Data Management

  • Ensure all project control documents are accurate, up-to-date, and filed properly.
  • Support the development of standard procedures and templates for project control practices.

5. Compliance & Coordination

  • Ensure compliance with nuclear regulatory requirements (if in a nuclear setting), safety standards, and company policies.
  • Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and internal departments to align on project goals and progress.
  • Participate in audits, reviews, and inspections as required by stakeholders or regulatory bodies.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Additional certifications (PMP, CCP, PSP) are a plus.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in project controls, ideally in large-scale infrastructure or energy projects.
  • Prior experience in the
    nuclear
    or
    heavy industrial construction
    sector is highly preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Primavera P6, MS Project, and Excel (pivot tables, macros).
  • Experience with cost management tools such as SAP, EcoSys, or Oracle Primavera Cost.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Work Environment & Conditions:

  • May require site visits or full-time site presence, depending on project phase.
  • Must adhere to safety and security protocols, especially in nuclear environments.
  • Potential for shift work or extended hours during peak construction phases.
