ResponsibilitiesThe Acute Virtual Care RN Manager is responsible for the strategic and operational oversight of the health system's hospital-based virtual care services, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, timely, and evidence-based medicine through virtual modalities. This position supports the integration and coordination of acute virtual care specialty services across multiple hospitals, facilitates provider engagement, monitors performance metrics, and serves as a liaison between clinical, operational, and IT teams. The manager ensures compliance with regulatory standards and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to enhance systems of care. The Acute Virtual Care RN Manager plays a key role in hospital site education by coordinating training and ensuring staff are proficient in virtual care workflows, protocols, and technology to support timely and effective care. The Acute Virtual Care RN Manager also oversees the AECN telemedicine practice(s) by managing provider licensure and CME compliance, and leading the processes for privileging and credentialing to ensure regulatory alignment and clinical readiness across all sites.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the acute virtual care programs across participating facilities (e.g., teleneurology, telestroke, telepsychiatry, tele-infectious disease, etc.)
- Serve as the primary contact for telephysicians, emergency department staff, nursing, radiology, and hospital leaders.
- Monitor telestroke metrics, including consult volumes, door-to-needle times, transfer rates, and quality outcomes; prepare dashboards and reports for leadership in collaboration with the Teleneurology Medical Director.
- Coordinate stroke education and training for site staff, including onboarding of new telestroke providers and partner hospitals.
- Ensure compliance with Joint Commission and/or DNV Stroke Center requirements and assist with audit preparation and documentation.
- Partner with Ascension Technologies, Virtual Care team members, and vendor partners to ensure technical infrastructure (e.g., carts, connectivity, documentation systems, integrations) is functioning optimally.
- Support privileging, and credentialing processes for telestroke providers.
- Lead and facilitate recurring meetings with internal and external stakeholders to review performance, address concerns, and share best practices.
- Identify opportunities for program growth, process improvement, and innovation within virtual stroke care delivery.
Education:
- High School diploma equivalency with 3 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree with 2 years of cumulative experience OR 7 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
- 3 years of leadership or management experience preferred.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or related field.
- Master's degree in Nursing, Health Administration (MHA), Public Health (MPH), or Business Administration (MBA) preferred.
Preferred Licensure/Certification/Registration:
- Active RN license
- Stroke Certification (e.g., SCRN, ASC-PSC Coordinator Certificate) preferred.
- Project Management Certification (e.g., PMP) a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in hospital-based healthcare setting, preferably in stroke, ED, telemedicine or virtual care.
- Prior experience working with quality improvement initiatives and data analysis.
- Experience coordinating across departments and managing clinical workflows in a matrixed environment.
- Knowledge of stroke accreditation requirements and telestroke best practices is strongly desired.
