Field Operations Manager I

Overview:
In this role, you will drive operational excellence and workforce development for high-voltage and substation work on utility-scale renewable energy construction projects. Acting as a subject matter expert, you will provide strategic guidance and coaching to site leadership on managing daily operations, staff performance, and reporting. Oversee processes and budgets to identify opportunities for reducing waste and improving efficiency. Develop and implement workforce plans that align project priorities with organizational goals, while identifying and cultivating key talent for long-term success.
Location & Travel:
You'll get the opportunity to travel across the US, helping our team build renewables projects. This position is remote with regular travel (50-75%) to job sites. A vehicle allowance will be provided. When travel is required, travel expenses including meals and lodging will be covered on a corporate expense card.

Responsibilities:
Essential Job Functions
Administrative Responsibilities
- Effectively communicate Company's beliefs throughout the organization
- Promote culture of quality workmanship in the field
- Promote and communicate the Company quality policies and procedures
- Develop operational policies and procedures for maximizing safety, performance and profitability
- Participate and/or lead problem solving and continuous improvement efforts
- Monitor key metrics and develop operational strategies for profitability
- Develop project matrix with the Project Management Team
- Manage budget and coordinate materials to ensure ongoing operations are equipped and staffed
- Establish, communicate, and evaluate progress towards field goals and benchmarks
- Resolve all issues and concerns relating to field office operations
- Work with Project Management Team on salary, allowances, payments, etc.
- Develop best practices and standard tools to use to continuously improve operational efficiency
- Streamline all field office operational, functional and administrative systems and insure they are in compliance with local laws and regulations
- Develop workforce plan with Project Management Team for each project to include the general labor needs, supervisors, site management and equipment necessary for each project, as well as identify key employees and training needs that can be tied to SMART goals
- Monitor and manage field office expenses with assigned budget
- Ensure timely preparation and submission of required field reporting
- Manage equipment matrix by supervisor to ensure accountability for equipment
- Oversee HR related procedures including recruitment, promotions, transfers, termination and salary negotiations
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis investigations and drive closure of accompanying action items
- Provide feedback and performance related discussions to staff
Training
- Complete Performance Evaluations and process all ESRs, Wage Changes and Manpower requests
- Evaluate, train, mentor and manage all field supervision
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Complete performance evaluations for direct reports
- Cross-train staff to be able to move between industrial, civil, power, oil and gas, etc.
Qualifications:
Education and Work Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in quality, industrial technology, business management, construction, science or related major or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong electrical experience within EPC or similar construction project environments
- 7-10 years of experience in high voltage and substation construction
- Required to have experience in isolations/clearances, LOTO and energizations
- Renewables construction project experience preferred (solar, wind, energy storage - BESS)
- Experience in craft construction positions and within Construction Manager job titles preferred
- Supervisory experience required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

- Apply principles of quality, lean kaizen and continuous improvement
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Procore and scheduling softwares
- Read, analyze and interpret blueprints, professional journals, technical procedures, contracts or governmental regulations
- Write reports, technical specifications, work instructions, procedures, business correspondence and document quality related issues and activities
- Effectively present information and respond to questions from project managers, superintendents, clients, customers and the general public
- Effectively communicate and develop positive working relationships with the owner, owner's representative, and the Company's site supervision, in order to facilitate the quality objectives
- Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, statistics and geometry
- Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in standardized situations
- Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
Working Environment
- When visiting jobsites, the work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions
- This work environment may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises
