About the Role:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in patient registration and medical billing within a healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with medical insurance processes and terminology.
  • Proficiency in using fax machines and other office equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity to handle documentation accurately.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in a physician's office or hospital billing department.
  • Knowledge of neuropsychiatric healthcare services and related billing codes.
  • Certification in medical billing or healthcare administration.
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and register patients upon arrival, collecting and verifying personal and insurance information accurately.
  • Process patient billing and payments, including co-pays and outstanding balances, while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Coordinate with physicians' offices and hospital billing departments to ensure accurate and timely submission of claims.
  • Utilize medical terminology and insurance knowledge to explain billing statements and resolve patient inquiries effectively.
  • Operate office equipment such as fax machines to transmit and receive necessary documentation securely and efficiently.

Skills:

The required skills such as patient registration and billing are applied daily to ensure that patient information is accurately captured and financial transactions are processed without error. Manual dexterity is essential for handling paperwork and operating office equipment like fax machines efficiently. Knowledge of medical insurance and terminology enables the representative to interpret and explain complex billing information to patients and insurance providers. Being detail oriented helps in identifying discrepancies and preventing billing errors, which supports compliance and reduces claim denials. Preferred skills, including familiarity with physician office workflows and hospital billing, enhance the ability to coordinate across departments and improve overall patient service quality.
