Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced HVAC Supervisor to lead and oversee all heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and mechanical maintenance operations across our facilities. This energetic role requires a proactive leader who can coordinate field service teams, ensure the highest standards of equipment performance, and maintain safe and efficient property environments. As an HVAC Supervisor, you will play a vital role in managing complex systems, guiding technicians, and ensuring seamless property maintenance that enhances operational efficiency and occupant comfort. Your expertise will drive the success of our maintenance programs while fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Duties

  • Lead and supervise HVAC technicians and service personnel in daily operations, ensuring timely completion of maintenance, repairs, and installations.
  • Oversee the installation, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration units (including ammonia refrigeration), plumbing systems, and appliance repair tasks.
  • Interpret schematics, technical drawings, and HVAC design documents to accurately diagnose issues and implement solutions.
  • Conduct field service activities involving equipment repair, welding, mechanical adjustments, and component replacement using tools such as ohmmeters and other diagnostic instruments.
  • Manage property maintenance tasks related to HVAC/R systems to ensure optimal operation and compliance with safety standards.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized services such as refrigeration or boiler repairs while maintaining strict safety protocols.
  • Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and system upgrades for accountability and future reference.
  • Ensure all work complies with local codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards including proper handling of refrigerants like ammonia.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by evaluating system performance data and recommending upgrades or modifications to enhance efficiency.
  • Support logistics related to equipment delivery or removal using company vehicles such as drivers when necessary.
  • Train team members on new procedures or equipment updates to foster skill development within the maintenance team.

Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration (including ammonia refrigeration), plumbing systems, and appliance repair.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in equipment repair, welding, troubleshooting schematics, and interpreting technical drawings.
  • Proven experience in construction environments or property maintenance settings with a focus on HVAC/R systems.
  • Ability to operate diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters effectively for electrical troubleshooting.
  • Field service expertise with a track record of managing complex mechanical systems in commercial or industrial settings.
  • Familiarity with HVAC design principles to support system upgrades or modifications for efficiency improvements.
  • Experience working with refrigeration systems—particularly ammonia-based refrigeration—ensuring safe handling practices are followed at all times.
  • Valid driver's license for transportation needs related to job duties.
  • Knowledge of safety standards related to equipment repair including welding procedures and boiler operation protocols.
  • Mechanical experience that includes working with pumps, valves, ductwork installation/repair, and other property maintenance tasks.
