Title: Web Application Solution Architect – AWS (Public Sector)

Overview

We're seeking a Solution Architect with deep experience in building and scaling large-scale .gov web applications on AWS. The ideal candidate is forward-thinking and eager to design innovative cloud-native solutions that support high-volume federal systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect scalable, secure, and high-performance web applications hosted on AWS, supporting mission-critical GSA systems
  • Design end-to-end solutions across front-end, back-end, and cloud infrastructure components
  • Optimize architecture for cost, performance, resiliency, and security
  • Lead the adoption of cloud-native services (Lambda, ECS/EKS, API Gateway, S3, CloudFront, etc.)
  • Collaborate with product owners, developers, and DevOps to align technical direction
  • Ensure systems are compliant with Federal security standards (FISMA, NIST 800-53, FedRAMP)
  • Drive innovation and modernization across legacy platforms
  • Mentor technical teams and participate in code and architecture reviews
  • Document and communicate architectural decisions and patterns

Required Skills & Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, including 3+ years in solution architecture
  • Proven experience designing and delivering large-scale web applications in a production .gov or public sector environment
  • Deep expertise with AWS services and architectural best practices
  • Familiarity with microservices, containers (Docker), Kubernetes/ECS/EKS, and serverless patterns
  • Understanding of DevSecOps practices and Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation, Terraform)
  • Ability to balance innovation with federal compliance and mission needs
  • Strong communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Certified Solution Architect – Professional
  • Experience supporting GSA platforms or similar federal agencies
  • Knowledge of 508 Compliance, ATO processes, and Zero Trust architecture
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, observability tools, and agile delivery models
