Remote Telephone Triage Nurse

Part-Time | Work From Home | Internal Medicine Office Experience Preferred

Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our remote telephone triage team. This part-time, work-from-home role involves supporting a variety of outpatient clinics—primarily internal medicine—by providing phone-based triage, clinical assessments, and patient education across the lifespan. The ideal candidate is skilled in telephone triage protocols, has excellent clinical judgment, and is confident working independently in a fast-paced virtual setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide telephone triage and clinical assessments using evidence-based protocols (e.g., Schmitt-Thompson)
  • Assess, prioritize, and escalate patient concerns to providers when necessary
  • Deliver education and guidance on symptom management, home care, and next steps for both pediatric and adult populations
  • Coordinate care by assisting with prescription refills, referrals, lab/test follow-ups, and prior authorizations
  • Accurately document all encounters and patient communication in the EMR
  • Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure continuity of care across multiple specialties
  • Deliver empathetic, efficient, and safe care in a fully remote environment

Requirements:

  • Active, unrestricted RN licensure - compact license
  • Minimum 2 years of recent clinical experience in a medical office setting or similar position
  • Experience supporting patients across the lifespan, including newborns, children, adolescents, and adult women
  • Prior telephone triage or remote care experience strongly preferred
  • Skilled communicator with strong clinical decision-making and patient education capabilities
  • Comfortable working independently and proficient with EMR systems
