Account Manager - full time

Salary range:
$65,000 - $70,000 DOE

Camino is looking for an experienced Account Manager to work collaboratively
with clients, Camino staff and outside experts to inspire positive change
by shifting the public narrative toward human rights, justice and dignity. The Account Manager :

  • Provides mid-level media account management
     including client services, development of communications strategies and media relations.
  • Engages the most pronounced social awareness issues of our time working across nonprofit, for-profit and government sectors to help clients pursue their mission, reach their goals and improve conditions for communities around the world.
  • The Account Manager delivers client services, including communications strategy, media advocacy, effort reporting, and analytics, which require advanced proficiency in technical platforms, including business, research, and social media applications
    .

Requirements

  • Knowledge of client account management principles and media advocacy theories and practice.
  • Ability to perform project management business functions such as using data management systems, meeting agenda creation, calendaring, tracking assignments and due dates, and tracking project efforts.
  • Proficiency in technical platforms including business, research and social media applications.
  • Utilize editorial research to understand a client's issue-based needs quickly, contribute to strategies and tactics and gain a working understanding of a client's area of focus.
  • Manage shifting assignments, multiple projects and respond rapidly to emerging client needs.
  • Work independently and in collaboration with other staff members according to established guidelines, with a focus on timely project completion.
  • Learn new software applications and other technical tools.

Writing and editing

  • Strong writing skills, including presenting clear concepts and information that is aligned with the audience's needs.
  • Ability to write and edit materials using AP Styleguide, which can include training and support tools to sharpen knowledge of AP style standards.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Enthusiasm for incorporating message strategy into written materials.

Interaction with clients and journalists

  • Media support activities, including media list building, news capturing, media scans, news release distribution, and tracking.
  • Pitching stories to journalists using approved pitch language.
  • Detail-oriented attention to fact-checking, accurate dissemination of information and adherence to professional standards and clients' mission and values.
  • Professional interaction with clients at meetings and training sessions.

Experience/qualifications

  • Minimum of 2-5 years experience in public relations, marketing or communications with demonstrated success in account management, preferably with nonprofit sector clients.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering presentations and successful negotiations to secure coverage for clients with local and national media.
  • A strong track record of positioning clients to achieve tangible outcomes in a competitive communications and media environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of community leadership and the workings of local, municipal, state and federal governments.
  • Spanish language proficiency for business applications preferred.

Education

Bachelor's or above degree — in journalism, marketing, public relations, English, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Other areas of study that advance critical thinking are also welcome.

Schedule and Office Assignment

Camino currently employs a hybrid work model; this position will require work to be performed remotely and at the Camino New York Flatiron headquarters. This position requires flexibility regarding in-office work, which may include some additional in-office days to meet the company's needs.

Newly-hired staff must complete a 90-day probationary period.
