Product Line ManagerProduct Line Manager Position Summary
The Product Line Manager – is responsible for overseeing the full range of Big Dutchman products related to commercial poultry industry production in North America. This role serves as a vital liaison between engineering, sales, purchasing, and customers, ensuring the company's product portfolio remains aligned with market demands. The Product Line Manager drives innovation, supports cross-functional collaboration, and ensures effective product lifecycle management; from development and introduction to ongoing improvements and end-of-life planning.
Product Line Manager Responsibilities and Duties
- Plan, prioritize, and manage the implementation of new product introductions and continuous improvement of existing product lines utilizing Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Processes through end-of life (EOL).
- Maintain/Create the Product Roadmap that clearly communicates to the organization the product strategy.
- Align and influence the Global Product Management team for your product line to ensure that U.S. market needs are incorporated into new global products under development.
- Lead cross-functional project teams across R&D, Engineering, Sales, and After-Sales Service for new product launches, utilizing the Big Dutchman Product Development Process.
- Identify and manage new product requests, guide them through the Product Approval Review (PAR) process, and provide status updates through structured product review meetings.
- Conduct market research to define customer needs and cost targets using input from the field sales team and customers.
- Maintain awareness of competitive offerings and provide insights to support strategic planning.
- Evaluate and decide whether a product should be Made to Order or maintained as Inventory Stock, aligning with demand, lead times, and cost targets.
- Set appropriate minimum inventory levels for stock products to satisfy market requirements.
- Support sales and sales support teams in product application and the customization of standard offerings
- Address customer concerns by initiating corrective product changes and improvements
- Optimize product portfolios to drive growth and profitability through margin analysis and cost reduction efforts
- Ensure all products comply with safety regulations and industry standards
- Collaborate with departments to develop and distribute accurate product communications, including:
- Develop and Edit product bulletins.
- Assist with product pricing requirements as needed.
- Service and maintenance manuals co-ordination.
- Training and promotional materials.
- Manage the full range of equipment offerings.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support product and business goals.
Product Line Manager Qualifications and Skills
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Poultry Science, or General Business.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of product management experience.
- Prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience with broiler, breeder, and/or turkey equipment is a plus.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong mechanical aptitude with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to lead cross-functional projects and collaborate across departments.
- Effective communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
