Production Manager

POSITION SUMMARY  

Reporting to the Head of Production & Development, Sandbox Films seeks a Production Manager who is responsible for aiding in the production management of all films in development and production: tracking film assets and deliverables, attending and scheduling regular meetings with artists, assessing monthly project cost reports, assessing budgets, aiding in booking crews and/or post production facilities, and keeping all project information up to date on Airtable. This candidate will be responsible for building organizational systems for Sandbox documentaries and establishing accounting and insurance systems for productions. The ideal candidate should bring film and production experience as a line producer, production manager, or co-producer and a genuine passion for both formally expansive and commercially successful documentary, as well as innovative science storytelling. This is a great position for someone hoping to advance their career in the independent film industry and gain valuable experience in all aspects of documentary production.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Joins and schedules regular production calls for all films in production and shares meeting recaps to keep all stakeholders on the same page
• Maintains calendar with production and postproduction timeline as well as all meetings and notes deadlines
• Attends weekly slate meetings as part of production film team and reports out production updates to Executive Director, Head of Production and SBF team
• Reviews quarterly cost reports from film teams and flags any questions/overages for approval for Head of Production
• Oversees film budgets
• Maintains Airtable with current notes, cuts, fundraising materials (sizzle/deck) and production status updates
• Maintains active list of potential consultants and collaborators in general and targeted to support of individual projects
• Coordinates all relevant deliverables in partnership with Head of Distribution/Distribution AP, and QCs with Studio Supervisor
• Establishes and oversees cost reporting workflows and insurance systems for Sandbox productions
• Aids in setting up service agreements and contracts with the Head of Business Affairs/Head of Operations as needed.
• Assists in artist/filmmaker relations, coordinating meetings and checkpoints
• In execution of all the above: collaborates efficiently; communicates clearly and proactively; treats all colleagues with respect; asks for assistance when needed; and ensures all deadlines are met.
• Contributes to office support for any production-related in-person meetings in office, feedback screenings, or other on-site activities.
• Able to work flexible hours on occasion to support screenings and events.

Required Skills and Experience:

• At least five to seven years' experience in the film or production industry, with experience as a line producer, bookkeeper, production manager, or equivalent
• Must be organized and meticulous
• Ability to juggle responsibilities and meet multiple deadlines and shift priorities quickly
• Excellent communication skills and prior experience in fast-paced, high-stress environments
• Bachelor's degree and background in film/production preferred
• Ability to manage and update in-house requirements for project deliverables,
• Experience working at a film or television production company or studio over a slate of films a plus.
• Demonstrated interest in science/science communication a plus.
• Enthusiasm about the Sandbox Films' mission a must

Compensation & Benefits

• The full-time annual compensation range for this position is $90,000 - $110,000, depending on experience
