CFD Modeler – Data Center Engineering
We are seeking a skilled CFD Modeler to join our growing engineering team supporting the design and optimization of next-generation data center facilities. This role is responsible for developing interior and exterior airflow and thermal models to support capacity planning, cooling system optimization, and overall performance validation.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Cadence and/or TileFlo software and thrives in a fast-paced, highly technical environment. This position will work closely with mechanical engineers, architects, and operations teams to provide actionable insights that inform design decisions and operational strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain CFD models for both interior (white space) and exterior (site-level) data center environments.
- Analyze airflow distribution, thermal performance, and pressure differentials to support equipment placement, cooling strategies, and capacity upgrades.
- Run simulations to evaluate different design scenarios, including liquid and air-cooled environments, containment strategies, and heat rejection systems.
- Generate clear, technically sound reports and visualizations to communicate results and recommendations to internal stakeholders and customers.
- Collaborate with design engineering, construction, and operations teams to integrate CFD findings into project design and execution.
- Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis efforts related to thermal performance issues.
- Contribute to standardization of CFD modeling methodologies, templates, and best practices.
- May be assigned additional tasks or supporting roles within the broader engineering team, including design coordination or analysis in related disciplines.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in mechanical engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related technical field (advanced degree preferred).
- Minimum of 2+ years of CFD modeling experience; data center or mission-critical facility experience strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with Cadence and/or TileFlo software required.
- Strong understanding of airflow dynamics, heat transfer, and HVAC principles.
- Experience working with high-density compute environments and various cooling topologies (air-cooled, liquid-cooled, containment).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point proficiency.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with ASHRAE TC 9.9 guidelines and other data center cooling standards.
- Experience supporting hyperscale or colocation data center projects.
Why Join Us
- Opportunity to work on cutting-edge, high-density data center designs.
- Collaborate with a talented and experienced multidisciplinary team.
- Influence design strategies that shape the future of critical infrastructure.
- Competitive compensation and benefits package.
