The goal of the Key Account Manager is to effectively support the company's top client accounts in reaching their goals. This person plays a key role in driving customer loyalty and engagement, as well as managing internal resources for delivery. This includes contributing to the account portfolio's profitability, satisfaction, growth and retention.
About the Role
As a Key Account Manager, you will be responsible for and expected to:
Client relationships
- Build and maintain partnerships with the company's largest and fastest-growing accounts. Build client confidence in Brandpoint after a sale, manage client expectations, advocate for the client's needs and work to ensure client's satisfaction with Brandpoint's work.
- Develop and write campaign and content briefs in coordination with clients as necessary and appropriate.
- Review all client work to ensure it aligns with client's brand and drives toward achievement of strategic goals.
- Oversee the entire project lifecycle, from onboarding and kickoff to delivery and reporting. Function as key point of contact with client for day-to-day communication, asset delivery, contract scope and client satisfaction.
- Coordinate and lead new project kickoff calls and reporting calls with a focus on partnership, data, insights and opportunities.
- Listen for additional opportunities and share ideas with clients as appropriate; consult with sales for development and/or contracting.
- Stay current with trends and news in the public relations and sponsored content space, always thinking of how to integrate emerging trends into client work.
Account retention and growth
- Help grow agency business within assigned accounts by continually listening for opportunity, sharing updates on new Brandpoint offerings and presenting fresh ideas to improve results.
- Proactively collaborate with the sales team on renewal timing and new opportunities within assigned accounts. Coordinate mid-year and annual account reviews for key accounts. Work with sales team to scope and prepare proposals for additional opportunities within accounts; present to client as needed.
- Help set and define objectives for client portfolio. Manage accounts to help achieve those objectives. Assist in development and presentation of client recommendations for growth.
Account management
- Proactively communicate with clients to keep projects moving forward and identify any roadblocks that may delay completion. Keep client apprised of status, measurables and results.
- Monitor and forecast revenue across your assigned accounts and seek opportunities to close delivery gaps.
- Work with clients to ensure optimal usage of contracted work, including topic planning, timeline development and consistently and proactively communicating about contract pacing and content opportunities. If needed, create extension in coordination with sales and finance.
- Reallocate contract dollars, when needed, based on timeline and client's strategic goals.
- Create and present campaign performance reports to reinforce the value of Brandpoint's services, uncover new client needs and learn about future strategy. Consult with sales team on additional opportunities or ideas.
- Serve as a voice of the client, advocating for their goals.
- Ensure all account team members receive written and verbal information and direction as needed to meet or exceed client's quality, budget and delivery expectations, with minimal rework.
- Maintain and share documentation of all directions, recommendations, meetings, etc., which result in client decisions or approvals, including authorizations to proceed with chargeable services.
- Inform supervisor about any issues that may affect the client-agency relationship or ability to meet or exceed revenue forecasts.
Financial/administrative
- Oversee client revenue and profitability. Achieve superior margins and top‐quality output for all client accounts.
- Keep forecast data up to date and reflective of changes to project scope, timing and expected net revenue.
- In office 2 days/week during core working hours.
About You
You are a fit for the Key Account Manager role if you have:
- 10+ years of experience in sales, with 5+ years in a senior sales leadership role (experience in marketing/pr is an advantage).
- Proven track record of success in sales and business development.
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with experience leading sales teams to exceed ambitious targets.
- Strong strategic planning and analytical abilities, with a deep understanding of market dynamics and emerging trends.
- History of innovative sales techniques and an understanding of modern sales processes and technologies.
- Outstanding communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to forge strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Strong negotiation and closing skills.
- Knowledge of CRM software and sales management tools.
- Financial acumen and forecast/budget management capabilities.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for growth and innovation.
