Job Summary
We are seeking a
Structural Engineer
to join our
Capital Projects Engineering Team
at
Client
. In this role, you will provide structural engineering expertise throughout all phases of capital projects at our chemical plant sites - from initial planning and scoping to detailed design and construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform structural engineering and design for:

  • Steel structures, equipment supports (e.g., pumps, pressure vessels, heat exchangers)

  • Pipe supports and pipe racks
  • Concrete foundations for tanks and equipment
  • Equipment pads and underground piping
  • Evaluation and analysis of existing structures and foundations

  • Develop conceptual layouts, preliminary designs, and material take-offs to support project estimating and scoping.

  • Prepare engineering calculations, designs, specifications, scopes of work, and complete engineering packages for procurement, bidding, and construction.
  • Review vendor drawings and interdisciplinary design documents to ensure proper structural integration.
  • Conduct fieldwork to collect data, verify existing conditions, inspect installations, identify tie-ins, and support construction activities.
  • Guide and support the design team in producing high-quality drawings suitable for bidding and construction.
  • Review fabrication drawings, RFIs, and other construction submittals for compliance with engineering requirements and project specifications.
  • Travel up to 10% may be required to other client sites in Alabama, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) License, with eligibility to obtain licensure in PA and VA
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a chemical plant or similar industrial setting (e.g., power plant, refinery, paper/pulp, pharmaceutical facility)

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to work both independently and within multidisciplinary teams
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling software such as AutoCAD or CADWorx Structure
  • Experience with structural analysis and design software, including Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis, STAAD, RISA, or GT STRUDL
