Summary
Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Human Resources Management, Executive Services Division, located in Washington D.C. Additional selections may be made for other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.

Duties
Joining Customs & Border Protection (CBP) will allow you to utilize your expertise in human resources management principles to work with the Senior Executive Services (SES). As a Human Resources Specialist, in Executive Services, at U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), you will be: Providing expert level human resources services, guidance, and briefing materials related to the Senior Executive Service (SES) and Political Appointment specialty areas. Providing human resources support for SES recruitment and staffing actions, to include issuing vacancy announcements, overseeing the evaluation of applicants, supporting SES Screening Panels and Executive Resources Boards, scheduling interviews, and preparing selection packages for SES law enforcement and non-law enforcement positions throughout CBP. Processing a wide range of personnel actions, including appointments, separations, reassignments, details, pay adjustments, incentives, and awards for SES and political appointees. Supporting the SES, Senior Level (SL), and Scientific and Professional (ST) Performance Management Programs, to ensure the timely evaluation of senior officials.

Qualifications
Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Providing advice and guidance to management officials on federal human resources laws, regulations, policies, and programs related to recruitment, staffing, compensation, and/or performance management. Providing human resources services to management officials and employees, to include strong planning and problem solving skills, and timely and accurate processing of personnel actions. Conducting research and analysis of applicable human resources laws, regulations, and policies, to address issues, resolve problems, or propose solutions. Preparing correspondence, briefing packages, and status/staff reports, for management officials and employees to foster understanding and obtain approval of proposed actions. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
