Job Overview

We are seeking a friendly and efficient Cashier to join our team at a busy convenience store. The ideal candidate will have a passion for providing excellent customer service and will be responsible for handling transactions, assisting customers, and maintaining a clean and organized store environment. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting.

Duties

  • Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system accurately and efficiently to process customer transactions.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and addressing concerns promptly.
  • Handle cash transactions and maintain accurate cash handling procedures to ensure accountability.
  • Assist with stocking shelves, merchandising products, and maintaining an organized store layout.
  • Conduct product demonstrations to promote new items or special offers.
  • Upsell products when appropriate to enhance the customer experience and increase sales.
  • Supervise junior staff members as needed, ensuring adherence to store policies and procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the checkout area and ensure all merchandise is properly displayed.

Skills

  • Proficient in cashiering and basic math skills for accurate transaction processing.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with customers.
  • Experience in retail sales, including upselling techniques and merchandising strategies.
  • Familiarity with grocery store operations is a plus.
  • Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to cater to a diverse customer base.
  • Knowledge of phone etiquette for handling customer inquiries over the phone.
