Job Description

AECOM is currently seeking a Deputy | Program Director for K-12 projects in the state of Georgia. This person will be directly responsible for the Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (E-SPLOST) Capital Improvement Program. They will also be responsible for related operations for a public school district serving 40K students across 70+ school facilities.

This person will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Oversees the design and permitting for all projects assigned
  • Coordinates project requirements, as needed, with 3rd party agencies
  • Manages the design consultants and CM deliverables
  • Provides input required for the Monthly Program Report relative to current
  • status and issues to the Construction Manager
  • Reviews and recommends approval of construction delivery proposals
  • Evaluates, coordinates and provides recommendations to the Client for changes and/or modifications to design consultants, contractors' scope of services
  • Manages all deliverable reviews and resolves review comments with design consultants.
  • Reviews and recommends bulletins
  • Reviews and recommends change orders
  • Technical management of assigned design consultant
  • Participates in and chairs, as needed, regularly scheduled progress meetings to review the status of projects
  • Participates in the weekly Project Coordination Meeting chaired by the Deputy Program Director.
  • Participates in and chairs, as needed, regularly scheduled design review comment and reconciliation meetings with the design consultant(s)
  • Facilitates resolution of technical and contractual issues of assigned design.
  • Participates in Owner-Architect-Contractors weekly or bi-weekly progress meetings
  • Reviews contractor Requests for Information (RFI)
  • Provides Client with input concerning Errors &Omissions issues
  • Monitors actual project scope, budgets, schedules and quality vs. established project scope, budgets, schedules and quality and promptly reports any deviations to the Client and design consultant and/or construction contractor
  • Manages any required corrective action to scope, budgets, schedules and quality.
  • Manages the design and construction support activities
  • Participates with the design consultant in design evaluations, studies, reports and alternative rankings
  • Manages the design consultant's construction phase services during construction.
  • Facilitates phasing and logistics meetings.
  • Manages the technical and administrative support staff assigned to the Project Manager.
  • Coordinates with appropriate Project Administrators.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Deputy Program Director and/or Design and Construction Director.
  • Evaluates A/E's and Contractors
  • Provides primary consulting services to clients of various sizes
  • Assesses and manages risk on behalf of the client
  • Position will include wearing associated personal protective equipment including, but not limited to safety glasses/goggles, safety shoes/boots, hard hat, and fall protection
  • Provides oversight and direction to client-procured architects, contractors, and consultants, and other AECOM staff as assigned
  • Routinely resolves difficult project issues with schedule or cost impact
  • Basic project management training and certification preferred
  • Occasionally standing/walking, operating vehicles, climbing stairs, and performing repetitive fine hand movements; Rarely working at heights, wearing fall protection, and lifting less than 25 pounds
  • Working in outdoor environments with uneven terrain and variable outdoor conditions including heat and moisture

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or another related field + 8 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership as a Senior Project Manager
  • Experience with Georgia K-12 programs
  • Experience with GADOE
  • Construction management of K-12 programs
  • Management of K-12 Planning, Design, and Construction
  • Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security pre-employment
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen
  • Due to the nature of this role, US citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience managing vertical construction projects or related
  • Certification as a Certified Construction Manager (CCM) by CMAA is preferred, or certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) by PMI is desirable
  • OSHA 30-Hour Training certificate preferred
