Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Plant Accountant to join our manufacturing team. Duties

• Manage the plant's general ledger, ensuring all journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial transactions adhere to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and internal policies.
• Prepare detailed financial statements, reports, and analyses to provide clear insights into plant performance and cost control measures.
• Conduct balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and account analysis to maintain accurate financial records.
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes specific to plant operations, ensuring timely processing and compliance with company policies.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities for the plant's operational needs.
• Ensure regulatory compliance by preparing necessary reports for governmental agencies.
• Collaborate with internal teams on internal and external uphold transparency and accountability.
• Utilize accounting software such as PeopleSoft, Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar platforms for efficient financial data management.
• Assist in tax-related activities including LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) reporting where applicable and other tax compliance tasks.
• Maintain meticulous records of all financial transactions related to plant operations including payroll processing, inventory costs, and capital expenditures.
• Mentor junior accounting staff by providing guidance on technical accounting concepts like accrual accounting, double-entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and financial analysis techniques.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process efficiencies within plant finance functions and implementing best practices in financial report writing and interpretation.

Experience

The successful candidate will bring a robust background in corporate or governmental accounting with a focus on manufacturing or industrial environments. Prior experience should include familiarity with complex financial concepts such as GAAP compliance, technical accounting standards, regulatory reporting requirements, and internal controls like SOX. Hands-on experience with accounting software such as PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero or QuickBooks is essential for success in this role. Candidates should possess strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial reports accurately while demonstrating excellent attention to detail in account reconciliation and bank statement analysis. Experience in non-profit accounting or public accounting is a plus but not mandatory. A comprehensive understanding of financial management principles—including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis—and proficiency in Microsoft Excel are required to excel in this position. Knowledge of securities law or estate law is advantageous but not essential. The ideal applicant will have a proven track record of mentoring team members in technical accounting practices while maintaining high standards of accuracy and integrity in all financial activities.
