Position Overview
The Mechanical Engineer IV will oversee the engineering design of Liquids Pump Station facilities for expansion and maintenance capital projects. This role ensures project designs produced by third-party engineering firms comply with Enbridge standards, relevant industry codes, and project budget and schedule requirements. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams across Project Execution, Operations, and Shared Services to ensure alignment and integration of project and company objectives.
Primary Responsibilities
- Ensure pump station facilities are designed in compliance with regulations, applicable industry standards, and internal corporate specifications.
- Define project scope, schedule, and budget for design and materials associated with pump station facility projects.
- Manage design execution by third-party engineering firms to meet project budget, schedule, and quality targets.
- Review and approve design deliverables such as drawings, technical reports, and material lists.
- Participate in design review meetings with engineering firms, Project Managers, Operations, and Construction teams to discuss scope, design intent, performance expectations, and constructability considerations.
- Review vendor material quotations, prepare technical evaluations, and recommend selections based on technical merit, cost, and delivery. (Examples: pumps, motors, vessels, buildings, generators, piping, valves, fittings.)
- Incorporate lessons learned from previous projects into future design packages.
- Identify, document, and communicate lessons learned and quality incidents for assigned projects.
- Support departmental initiatives as required.

Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant industry experience.
Preferred
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and priorities.
- Strong problem-solving skills, including applying standards, adapting standards, and leveraging prior experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Working Conditions
- Approximately
80% office-based
work supporting multiple project teams. - Up to
20% field work
for project scoping and support of procurement, construction, and commissioning. - Must be able to manage time-sensitive deliverables.
- Requires strong computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office applications.
