Position Overview

We are seeking a
Mechanical Design Engineer
(Engineer III, or Senior, depending on experience) to design, develop, and refine mechanical components and assemblies for our robotic surgical platforms. This role focuses on concept design, DFMEA, troubleshooting, and high-precision mechanical solutions.

This position requires
prior experience in the medical device industry
and
professional proficiency in Korean
, as you will interface with Korean-based engineering teams, suppliers, or partner organizations.

You will work under the guidance of the Staff Mechanical Engineer & Team Lead within R&D, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to bring advanced robotic technologies from concept through commercialisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to concept and detailed mechanical design of robotic system components and subassemblies.
  • Apply
    DFMEA
    methodologies to ensure robust, high-reliability designs.
  • Conduct detailed troubleshooting and root cause analysis for mechanical and system-level issues.
  • Develop prototypes, conduct mechanical testing, and support verification/validation activities.
  • Utilize
    SolidWorks
    and FEA tools to model, iterate, and analyze mechanical designs.
  • Collaborate with electrical, software, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure full design integration and manufacturability.
  • Participate in design reviews and support design transfer to manufacturing.
  • Interface with suppliers — including Korean suppliers — to ensure component quality and timely delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with
    FDA

    , and other relevant medical device standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the development lifecycle.

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Strong foundation in concept design, DFMEA, and troubleshooting/root cause analysis.
  • Proficiency with
    SolidWorks
    and mechanical CAD design workflows.
  • Hands-on experience with precision mechanisms, actuators, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Medical device industry experience required
    (surgical robotics preferred).
  • Familiarity with regulatory and quality frameworks (FDA, ISO
  • Professional proficiency in Korean
    (spoken and written), with the ability to collaborate with Korean engineering teams or suppliers.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple design tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience designing electro-mechanical or robotic systems.
  • Strong understanding of materials, tolerance analysis, and manufacturing processes.
  • Exposure to the full product development lifecycle, from concept through production.
  • Experience in high-precision or safety-critical engineering environments.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 3–12+ years
    of mechanical design experience depending on the level
