Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Mechanical Engineer located in Houston, TX. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for commissioning, installing, and integrating new equipment within Reef's manufacturing facilities. The Mechanical Engineer should also be able to troubleshoot problems with production lines and implement solutions alongside the Engineering and Maintenance teams. This is an entry level position. Applicants with all levels of experience will be considered.

Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities

  • Work with the Engineering and Maintenance teams with planning, installation, and commissioning of Plastic Lamination and Printing Equipment, ensuring integration with existing production lines.
  • Perform equipment layout designs, specifying mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic requirements with equipment manufacturers.
  • Troubleshoot issues with existing production equipment and implement effective and efficient solutions.
  • Interface with internal and external machinists regarding repair or re-manufacture of existing critical components.
  • Work closely with Maintenance team to ensure repairs are scheduled during expected downtime
  • Maintain on-site machining equipment and recommend upgrades when necessary.
  • Assist with

existing converting and fabrication processes and workflows to identify areas that could benefit from changes and improvements
- Provide training and technical support to operators and maintenance teams during equipment handover.
- Work with on-site safety personnel to ensure solutions meet existing OSHA safety guidelines.
- Support marketing activities by attending trade shows, conferences and other marketing events
- Some travel may be required to our sister production facility in San Benito, Texas.
- 10% or less of travel per month may be required

Qualifications/Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET Accredited University, Preferably Mechanical or similar
  • Experience with Plastic Extrusion, Lamination, Industrial Printing, and Industrial Slitting is a plus
  • Certification such as Lean Six Sigma, CMfgE, or CMRP is a plus
  • Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills
  • Proficient with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office programs
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor
