Secretary/Technician 30 hours, Days, 3 x 10 hour shifts, Summit, NJ

The Perioperative/Endoscopy services Unit Secretary – Technician candidate must have exceptional communication, organizational and customer service skills. The ideal candidate will have hospital or related experience and assist the OR clinical care team with quality care for elective/emergent surgical patients. The Sec-Tech will efficiently assist the OR clinical care team in a fast-paced setting, while placing a high priority on safety, customer service and infection prevention.

Job Fucnction1 : Answering phones, patient registration, patient

liaison/rounding, updating family members, ordering supplies/nourishments, reviewing/scanning documents into media manager, restocking supplies, supply procurement, maintaining and tracking broken equipment log, mailroom run, stocking forms and printers outside procedure rooms.

Job Function 2 : Calling bedded units for patient transport to ENDO.

Job Function 3: Contacting the Help Desk with IT assistance as needed.

Job Function 4 : Reviewing patient lists for discharges.

Job Function 5 : Assist in completing unit-based projects under Managers direction (i.e. staff meeting mins, bulletin board, hand washing audit etc.).

Job Function 5 : Responsible for reporting to appropriate departments necessary repairs (lights, water, coffee machine, etc.).

Job Function 6 : Assist licensed care professionals including but not limited to, maintaining patient tracker white board, update/maintain Snap board, add on case entry into EPIC. Review/update unit charges prior to sending to charge department.

Job Function 7: As directed by the Endoscopy Manager and licensed care professionals, including but not limited to monthly, weekly and daily logs (Shift Management Tool, IV tray, blood tray supplies, refrigerator temps/cleaning, blanket warmer temps, eye wash function), restock/organize pre op/post op cabinets, restock nourishments/remove expired, stock blanket warmers, restock supplies in bays/remove expired, pick up blood, deliver lab specimens, pharmacy run, pick up items from SPD, and any additional runs as needed.

Job Function 8 : Bring patients to pre-op bay and instruct patient on changing, and personal belonging storage. Clean and make stretchers (move in/out of bays). Cover PCTs for lunch breaks.

Job Function 9 : Check for outdated lab tubes and eye-stat cartridges / replace as needed. Possible additional duties – log in belongings into Epic and have patient sign.

Job Function 10: Transport patients to floor or discharge.

Job Function 11 : Assist patients to bathroom.

Job Function 12 : Assist with cart exchanges from SPD. (code Cart, Chest Tube Cart, Peds Intubation/anesthesia cart)

Required -

High School Diploma or equivalent

Computer Skills: Microsoft Word

Preferred-

College degree

Prior Administrative and/or patient care experience in health care.

Demonstrate effective communication skills with patients, families, team members, and physicians.
