Scion Executive Search, a nationally recognized search firm, is conducting the search for a Managing Director, Official Disability Guidelines (ODG) on behalf of a leading healthcare technology company. This full-time opportunity is remote with strong preference given to candidates based in the Pacific Northwest. Reporting into the SVP of Product, this role will define the future of a critical portfolio within the business, repositioning ODG as the most innovative and comprehensive solution for managing injury and disability claims.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This is an exciting opportunity to drive the strategic direction and commercial performance of the business, with end-to-end accountability across product positioning, market strategy, and cross-functional execution. The ideal leader for this role has a deep knowledge of the claims and insurance ecosystem, strong operational and market instincts, and the ability to unify teams around a bold, cohesive vision.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Own Strategy and Drive Growth
- Lead and expand a specialized portfolio serving the workers' compensation, disability, and auto insurance markets.
- Establish growth targets and oversee execution across sales, product, partnerships, and marketing functions.
Elevate Market Positioning
- Define and implement brand, product, and messaging strategies that position the portfolio as a modern, differentiated solution for claims organizations, TPAs, carriers, employers, and public-sector entities.
Deliver Measurable Business and Client Outcomes
- Achieve financial performance, adoption, and satisfaction goals while identifying and executing opportunities for market expansion, product innovation, and customer retention.
Foster Cross-Functional Alignment
- Partner with senior leadership and internal teams to prioritize initiatives and ensure coordinated delivery across all functions.
Navigate a Changing Market Landscape
- Monitor regulatory shifts, competitive developments, and client needs to maintain a responsive, innovative, and market-leading offering.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- 8+ years of experience in workers' compensation, disability, auto injury, or closely related markets.
- Proven track record in business unit leadership, product strategy, or commercial execution within a B2B or SaaS environment.
- Deep understanding of claims operations, industry guidelines, payer/provider workflows, and applicable regulatory frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
- Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration, public policy, or a related discipline; advanced degree (Master's or MBA) preferred.
- Ability to travel up to 30%.
- History of repositioning or modernizing established product portfolios in changing market environments.
- Background in digital health, medical management, or claims analytics.
- Familiarity with utilization review processes, provider network structures, and state-level regulations related to disability and injury claims.
- Strong financial acumen, including the ability to develop business cases for new product and market opportunities.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
In addition to a competitive compensation range of $178,000 - $249,00 plus bonus potential, our client enhances the compensation package with generous employer contributions to health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as employer-paid basic life and long-term disability insurance. Benefit offerings include a 401(k) match, paid volunteer days, pet insurance, parental leave, paid vacation, paid sick leave, and paid holidays.
