Overview

We are seeking dedicated and responsible Bus Drivers to join our team. The ideal candidates will have have strong communication skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to manage behavior effectively while on the bus.

Duties:

  • Safely operate a school bus, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and mechanical soundness
  • Maintain a clean and orderly bus environment for students
  • Communicate effectively with passengers, parents, and staff regarding schedules, routes, and any issues that may arise
  • Manage student behavior on bus to ensure a safe and respectful environment during transit
  • Assist children in boarding and disembarking the bus, providing support as needed

Experience:

  • Proven experience in bus driving is preferred
  • Previous experience working with children or in childcare settings is advantageous
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems related to bus operation is beneficial
  • Skills in behavior management will be valuable in maintaining order on the bus

Qualifications:

Must have NYS CDL, Class B or C with appropriate passenger endorsement

Must pass a NYS DMV Physician's Exam

Must pass pre-employment US DOT drug screen & random drug screenings thereafter

Must pass NYSED Dept. Physical Performance Test

* Position is contingent on approval from the Nassau County Civil Service Commission.*
