Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and responsible School Bus Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be committed to providing safe and reliable transportation for our student passengers. This role requires excellent driving skills, a strong sense of responsibility, and the ability to educate passengers on safety protocols.

Duties

  • Safely operate a school bus, ensuring the comfort and safety of all passengers during transit.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly vehicle environment.
  • Educate students on safety procedures and assist them as needed while boarding and disembarking.
  • Adhere to scheduled routes and timetables while being flexible to accommodate any necessary changes.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all passengers, including seniors and individuals with disabilities.
  • Keep accurate records of passenger counts, mileage, and vehicle maintenance logs.
  • Demonstrate mechanical knowledge by identifying minor issues with the vehicle and reporting them for further maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Valid commercial driving license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for school bus operation.
  • Experience in bus driving or related fields such as school bus driving.
  • Knowledge of the vehicles and traffic laws of NY State including Article 19-A and NYS Department of Education Commissioner Regulations.
  • Strong communication skills in English; ability to educate passengers effectively on safety protocols.
  • Mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle inspections and identify issues.
  • A commitment to safety and a clean driving record.
