Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Family Law Paralegal to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of family law and demonstrate proficiency in various legal practices, including but not limited to estate planning, immigration law, and litigation. This role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently within a fast-paced law office environment.
Duties :
- Assist attorneys in preparing for family law cases, including drafting pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
- Conduct legal research using tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case preparation.
- Manage case files and maintain organized documentation through effective document management systems.
- Interview clients and witnesses to gather necessary information for case development.
- Review and summarize documents related to family law matters, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal standards.
- Provide executive administrative support, including scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and filing documents.
- Collaborate with attorneys on case strategy and assist in trial preparation as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information while adhering to ethical standards in all interactions.
Requirements :
- Proven paralegal experience with a focus on family law is essential; experience in related areas such as personal injury law or workers' compensation law is a plus.
- Proficiency in legal research and writing skills, with the ability to draft clear and concise legal documents.
- Familiarity with document review processes and litigation support tasks.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Experience with PCLaw or iManage software is preferred; knowledge of data entry and clerical tasks is beneficial.
- Excellent phone etiquette and interpersonal skills for effective communication with clients and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a busy law office setting.
- Knowledge of UCC law, environmental law, tribal law & regulations, patent law, landlord-tenant law, securities law, project management, and legal case management will be advantageous.
