Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates for the position of Classroom Aide must possess the following minimum qualifications in order to be considered for the position:

  • Have an interest in working with young children.
  • Have a warm and friendly personality.
  • Be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others.
  • Be able to relate well to children.
  • Be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the church and childcare's educational and spiritual philosophy.
  • Have the ability to perform physical duties of the job without limitations.
  • Be at least 16 years of age.
  • Obtain state mandated criminal background check.
  • looking for someone who can work during the day

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist the Lead Teacher in the care and education of a group of children as assigned, providing constant supervision and maintaining appropriate child to adult ratios at all times.
  • Assist in preparing the learning environment, setting up interest centers, and preparing needed materials and supplies.
  • Help with the general housekeeping tasks.
  • Assume an equal share of the joint housekeeping responsibilities.
  • Assist the teacher in any other appropriate ways.
  • Maintain professional attitudes and loyalty to the church and childcare at all times. Keeping all student, staff, and family information confidential.
  • Treat all children with dignity and respect, as unique individuals created by God.
  • Attend all required training programs, conferences, and staff meetings.
  • Participate in public-relation events sponsored by Eastern Heights Evangelical Lutheran Church and by Open Arms Lutheran Child Development Center.
