Job summary:

Our client is seeking a Senior Business Systems Analyst to join a high-performing team responsible for shaping technology strategy, architecting systems, and ensuring exceptional delivery standards across financial applications. In this role, you will act as a trusted expert to both business and technology partners—supporting enhancements, troubleshooting issues, and guiding discussions related to portfolio optimization and performance attribution.

You will work closely with users, developers, architects, integrators, and vendors to gather requirements, define user stories, prepare UAT scripts, create release documentation, and support all phases of the project lifecycle. A key part of the position includes coordinating user acceptance testing, ensuring system solutions meet stakeholder expectations, and providing ongoing support for both vendor platforms and internal applications.

Success in this position requires developing strong domain knowledge, advocating for business needs, adapting to shifting priorities, managing multiple concurrent tasks, and producing clear visual workflows using tools like Visio or Lucidchart. Experience translating business requirements into API or web service specifications—and documenting them in Jira and Confluence—is essential.

What You Bring

  • Extensive background in asset management, with deep understanding of equity trading, portfolio management, operations, and accounting
  • Hands-on experience with optimization tools such as Axioma or Gurobi
  • Knowledge of IBOR platforms, ideally with exposure to Vestmark
  • Ability to balance and communicate shifting priorities across a matrixed organization, supporting teams in trading, portfolio management, compliance, and risk
  • Proven capability to evaluate technology options and recommend solutions aligned with business goals
  • Strong understanding of the full systems development lifecycle—from requirements and design through testing and deployment
  • Confident presenting strategic and tactical recommendations to business partners
  • Interest in working with a mix of internally built systems and third-party solutions
  • Exceptional communication, analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and stakeholder management skills

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, computer science, or a related discipline; CFA Foundations or CFA certification is a plus
  • 8+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst or similar role within technology or financial services
  • Preferred experience includes:
  • Integration of vendor products with custom-developed components
  • Strong data analysis capabilities
  • Working in Agile development environments
