Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to manage our financial records and ensure accurate accounting practices. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in various accounting software and financial concepts, with the ability to handle multiple accounting functions efficiently. This role is essential in maintaining the integrity of our financial data, preparing reports, and supporting overall financial health. The position offers an opportunity to work within a collaborative team environment, contributing to the organization's success through precise bookkeeping and financial management.

Duties

  • Maintain and update general ledger accounts using accounting software Quickbooks (network and desktop versions)
  • Perform bank reconciliations and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial data.
  • Prepare journal entries, including debits & credits, for various transactions in accordance with GAAP standards.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections.
  • Assist with payroll processing and related tax filings.
  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and account analysis regularly to identify discrepancies or errors.
  • Support budgeting processes by providing relevant financial data and analysis.
  • Generate financial reports, including profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and other management reports.
  • Ensure compliance with governmental accounting standards.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of all bookkeeping activities for audit purposes.
  • Utilize technical accounting skills for complex transactions or special projects as needed.

Experience

  • Proven experience working with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP principles and double-entry bookkeeping methods.
  • Prior experience in corporate accounting, non-profit accounting, or governmental accounting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of financial concepts including account reconciliation, journal entries, bank reconciliation, and account analysis.
  • Familiarity with payroll processing and tax compliance is advantageous.
  • Experience with financial report writing and budget management is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform general ledger reconciliation and maintain accurate records in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; proficiency in 10 key typing is beneficial. This position is integral to maintaining accurate financial records that support strategic decision-making and organizational accountability. Candidates should possess a solid foundation in bookkeeping principles combined with practical experience using various accounting tools to succeed in this role.

Pay: $ $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 12.0 – 18.0 per week
