Job Summary:

The role of the Member Services Coordinator (MSC) is to assist the club members at the Day Center by providing information of the services provided, supervise the member's activities in the community room/art room, assist with program events and refer members to outsourced agency reps if needed.  The MSC also promotes safety and wellness and takes note of health concerns by observing signs that may indicate illness or abuse. You must be able to use your judgment regarding admittance policies to the Club and follow all posted policies and procedures in a consistent and fair manner.   

Essential Job Functions:

Member Care & Communication

  • Provide quality and professional care to members by answering phones, observing security camera monitors, answering questions, and facilitating members' requests for services.
  • Answer and make phone calls and intercom announcements in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Screen members who request to see the Member Services Manager.
  • Offer creative and efficient solutions to member needs by utilizing resources at Chief Seattle Club and outside agencies.
  • Assist with new member intakes for membership.
  • Communicate with the front desk and other staff to ensure they have up-to-date information on pertinent policies, procedures, upcoming events, and member status.

Facility & Organization Management

  • Regularly sanitize countertops, telephones, and computer stations throughout the day; ensure the desk remains clutter-free and the community area stays neat.
  • Manage the organization of the clothing distribution room and ensure the area is tidy at the end of each working day.
  • Organize member files.

Program & Partnership Coordination

  • Manage appointments for Chief Seattle Club partner agencies.
  • Create and maintain a monthly program calendar for the Club.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Provide documents, reports, and correspondence as requested.
  • Provide member service statistics to the Member Services Manager as requested.
  • Update member profiles in Clarity/HMIS (client tracking database system).

Team Collaboration

  • Attend all staff meetings.
  • Support resident safety by responding appropriately to emergencies, reporting hazards or incidents promptly, and modeling safe practices in alignment with agency policies and trauma-informed care principles. Completion of all safety-related trainings. May be asked to participate in safety meetings. 
  • Responsible for safeguarding confidential information.  

Non-Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform other duties as situation requires or as assigned by supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. 

Experience: One (1) year experience working with Native American population and/or a strong awareness of Native Culture. 

Licenses/Certifications: Valid driver's license and clean driving record in the past 3 years preferred. 

Technical Skills & Competencies: Excellent knowledge of MS Office and basic computer use.

Physical and Work Environment:

The member services position is primarily based in a day center environment, which may require extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking throughout the facility. The role involves engaging with clients and staff in various areas, including private offices, open common areas, and occasionally outdoor spaces. Employees should be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds as needed for tasks such as setting up meeting spaces, organizing supplies, or assisting clients with belongings. The work environment is fast-paced and can be emotionally demanding, given the need to support individuals experiencing crisis or trauma. The center is designed to be welcoming and accessible, with reasonable accommodations provided to ensure all employees can perform essential functions effectively.

Most positions at CSC are exposed to members of the community who have experienced or are 

experiencing trauma in various forms including but not limited to: domestic violence, sexual 

violence, homelessness, unemployment, financial hardship, etc. As a result, staff are at risk of 

secondary trauma. Employees are encouraged to seek external support and maintain self-care 

when working indirectly or directly with clients. Mental health care referrals for employees is available.
