Social Services Coordinator

GenPride's Social Services Coordinator is a skilled social services navigator, group coordinator, volunteer manager, and community liaison who centers racial, aging, and LGBTQIA2S+ justice within their efforts and thrives amid growth, change, and transformation.
This temporary position (anticipated 8-12 weeks) works primarily in-person, in a community center setting with frequent and regular interruptions. The Social Services Coordinator's schedule may include early morning, evening, and weekend hours. This position reports to the Program and Services Manager and engages staff, partners, participants, and volunteers to meet goals.

GenPride advocates for the unique needs of older LGBTQIA2S+ adults in Seattle and King County and offers innovative programs and services that promote well-being, prevent social isolation, and cultivate belonging, justice, and liberation.
In the heart of Capitol Hill in Seattle, GenPride has opened the GenPride Center, located on the ground floor of Pride Place, to provide culturally relevant health and support services and programs to enhance the quality of life for both the residents of Pride Place and all other LGBTQIA+ elders in King County. We envision The GenPride Center as a fabulous place for LGBTQIA2S+ older adults to gather and as a hub for GenPride's county-wide efforts.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Individual Support (70%)
Act as a liaison alongside individuals when working with other agencies, landlords, and/or medical and mental health professionals.
Work with representatives of other agencies to provide collaborative resources for seniors.
Assess caregiver needs in our community and create support groups and opportunities to connect with others for support groups and other services that also meet grant deliverables.
Build rapport, provide support, and advocate for a diverse range of older adults, including individuals who may be actively using substances and/or living with significant mental/physical health challenges.
Engage community members seeking support using person‐centered, strengths‐based, and trauma-informed approaches.
Group or Community Support (15%)
Work in partnership with LGBTQIA+ organizations to offer services and programs for LGBTQIA+ older adults, including caregivers.
Coordinate programs, support groups, and classes for LGBTQIA+ people and caregivers
General (15%)
Adhere to guidelines on the confidentiality rights of individuals and respect their privacy.
Ensure proper tracking and documentation of all individuals who access and use services, including, but not limited to narrative reports for services provided, current partnerships, and new initiatives in social work and caregiver support programs.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to authentically connect with GenPride's mission and aspirations through your personal experiences.
A deep commitment to equity and social justice and experience working with people with a breadth of lived experiences, especially those who have been disproportionately impacted by injustices, including LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC folks.
2 years of experience providing direct social service assistance to older adults.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
Ability to take and provide direction and feedback with care and adapt quickly to evolving priorities.
The ability to cultivate relationships and work effectively with a broad spectrum of people, including building quick credibility and ongoing trust with coworkers, partners, volunteers, and elders.
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint) and Adobe Suite, and willingness to adapt to new technologies.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Complete COVID vaccination is required. Physical skills and ability to perform work that requires sitting, able to move around the center, stooping, bending, and lifting to 25 pounds. Able to work in a community center setting with frequent and regular interruptions, occasional evening, and weekend hours.
