Staff Technical Program Manager, Global Manufacturing & Industrial IT

Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Technical/Innovation Center in Warren (MI) or Austin (TX) three times per week, at minimum. This position can be located at either of these 2 locations.

The Role

We are looking for a Staff Technical Program Manager to lead the execution and scale of GM's enterprise Global Manufacturing & Industrial IT programs.

In this highly cross-functional and strategic role, you will drive complex Global Manufacturing & Industrial IT initiatives from concept through delivery, partnering with technical, business, and executive stakeholders to embed Global Manufacturing & Industrial IT into GM's enterprise operations. You will shape the roadmap, governance, and change management practices required to drive responsible, scalable, and high-impact Global Manufacturing & Industrial IT transformation across the company.

What You'll Do

  • Translate corporate strategy into actionable technical roadmaps, timelines, and deliverables, and lead end-to-end execution of strategic Global Manufacturing & Industrial IT initiatives across multiple business units and technical domains, driving cross-functional alignment and sustained momentum to deliver on quality and on time

  • Partner with product, engineering, research, and business stakeholders to scope and deliver enterprise-scale Global Manufacturing & Industrial IT programs, from pilot to production

  • Operationalize Global Manufacturing & Industrial IT governance by embedding compliance, ethical Global Manufacturing & Industrial IT standards, and responsible usage across initiatives

  • Champion Global Manufacturing & Industrial IT best practices in development workflows, change management, and product lifecycle

  • Influence enterprise tooling and infrastructure investments to support Global Manufacturing & Industrial IT model development, evaluation, and deployment at scale

  • Collaborate with over 50 site IT managers and senior leaders across more than 100 global Manufacturing and CCA locations to implement plant and warehouse solutions

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • 10+ years of experience in program management or engineering leadership, driving initiatives within technically complex systems

  • BS or MS degree in an Engineering-related discipline

  • Strong engineering background, including the ability to contribute meaningfully to architectural decisions, the evaluation of technical trade-offs, and solution design

  • Extensive experience in the automotive and industrial sectors, with a strong focus on Global Manufacturing & Industrial IT platforms, client engineering, networking, operating systems, and end-user computing

  • Proven ability to lead large-scale, cross-functional hardware or software programs in complex enterprise environments

  • Strong analytical mindset with exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex topics clearly and effectively

  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities, with a passion for fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration

  • Expertise in program management methodologies (Agile, hybrid, scaled delivery models) and tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence)

  • Must be able to travel 10% of the time

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or MBA with technical focus

  • Proven track record in implementing and managing complex IT infrastructures, optimizing system performance, and ensuring seamless integration of new technologies

  • Prior leadership of Global Manufacturing & Industrial IT transformation programs within a Fortune 500 or high-growth tech company

Company Vehicle: Upon successful completion of a motor vehicle report review, you will be eligible to participate in a company vehicle evaluation program, through which you will be assigned a General Motors vehicle to drive and evaluate. Note: program participants are required to purchase/lease a qualifying GM vehicle every four years unless one of a limited number of exceptions applies.
